The Cuban Music pays tribute to Benny Moré on his 90th birthday and Cubamusic.com, the exclusive cuban music store on-line, is proposing a wide catalogue interpreted by this extraordinary artist: more than 200 tracks recorded from 1952 to 1960. A six-month tribute will be paid in Cuba to late singer Benny More, known as The King of the Rhythm, since February 15th until August 24th, the date of his birthday. Bartolomé Moré Gutiérrez was born on August 24, 1919, in Santa Isabel de las Lajas, Cienfuegos, and died on February 19, 1963, in Havana. Moré grew up in extreme poverty, but endowed with an innate musical sense and with a fluid tenor voice of great expressiveness. He created and modeled his Giant Band on the American swing bands of the 1940s and 1950s. He successfully performed in the United States and gained international recognition. The movie El Benny about his musical trajectory, by the prestigious Cuban director Jorge Luis Sánchez, received a great welcome not only among the Cuban public, but also to the foreign. Cubamusic.com recommends (mp3 download) the soundtrack of this multi-prize winning movie: Banda Sonora del Film El Benny. |
