Biographie

ERIC GROSSMAN

Violinist.
American violinist Eric Grossman is considered to be a brilliant and versatile interpreter. His first teacher was his dad, cello player John Grossman, from whom he inherited his deep talent for music.
He graduated at the Juilliard (NY) and developed an active international career performing at concerts and playing with prestigious symphonic orchestras from the US, Europe, Korea, Japan and Cuba. He collaborated with artists of the likes of David Soyer, Seymour Lipkin, Philip Myers and Sandra Rivers, among others.
In 2006, Eric realized in New York the world premiere of the First Violin Concerto (under the direction of Bernard Rubenstein), work which composer Jorge López Marín would specifically dedicate to Grossman and of which he would make another unforgettable interpretation in La Habana, in 2008.

JORGE LÓPEZ MARÍN
Composer and director of orchestra.
Born in La Habana on May 8, 1949. He studied music in the conservatories Alejandro García Caturla, Amadeo Roldán and the Escuela Nacional de Arte. He attended the superior level at the Kiev Conservatory, Ukraine, and obtained a master’s degree in composition and direction of orchestra at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow.
He debuted, as director, in front of the National Symphonic Orchestra of Cuba, and then directed the symphonic orchestras of Schumen (Bulgaria); the Orchestra of Cuban Radio and Television; the Youth Symphonic Orchestra of the National School of Music; the Cuban National Ballet Orchestra in the VII Ballet Festival of La Habana; the Symphonic Orchestra of Matanzas; the Orchestras of Lvov (Ukraine) and Timisoara (Romania); the Orchestra of Suhl (Germany); the Symphonic Orchestras of Kiev (Ukraine), Tbilisi (Georgia), Rzezow and Olsztin (Poland); the National Symphonic Orchestra of Costa Rica; the Orchestra of Cordoba and many others, among which the Orchestra of the Gran Teatro in La Habana, with which he directed ballets and operas and for which he composes some important orchestrations.
Works of his authorship have been performed in La Habana, Paris, Rio de Janeiro, New York and many other cities around the world.
