Guantánamo Free is a pop rock fusion band founded in 2006 by its director and vocalist Miguel Alejandro Atencio Iznaga, after a long and successful musical career with renowned bands such as Moneda Dura, with which he popularized songs such as "La buena onda" and "Lola". After leaving Moneda Dura he started a new stage in his career with Wena Onda band, having excellent results as well. He composed and performed several of the songs included in the multi-awarded soundtrack of the film Habana Blues. Guantánamo Free is a band that mixes Latin and Afro-Caribbean music with Anglo-Saxon rock (mestizo music) and tries to give a new trend to Latin music sound and, especially, to the way it is staged (mestizo culture made music ).
