Polito Ibáñez was born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, on March 29, 1965. He is one of the most outstanding personalities of the New Trova Movement during the last years, a well-known movement called Novísima Trova.
Polito Ibáñez graduated as performer at the Higher Institute of Art, became a singer-composer in 1984, assuming the aesthetics of the New Trova Movement.
He has given concerts in countries like Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Venezuela, Costa Rica, Spain, France and the Netherlands, where he shared the stage with artists of the stature of Pablo Milanés, Silvio Rodríguez and Joaquín Sabina.
Polito Ibáñez has developed a sound discographic career since the launching of his record "Recuento", which made him very popular among Cuban youngsters for his mixing of genres like pop, rock and, above all, the trova, its main asset according to critics,. s one of the best composers of his generation with themes like "Aroma de jazmín" and "Somos números", where he merged trova elements with pop and rock music. His next successful musical work, entitled "Axilas", includes pieces like "Doble Juego", which was the theme of a popular Cuban television series and his hit "Como a mujeres"
The music of Polito Ibáñez gathers thousands of people in squares and big theaters, all of them identified with the sensitivity of a young man who knows how to gorgeously sing the realities of his time.
